- Which of the preceptor's details will you collect for MRU's credential check, and when will I have them?
- Has the preceptor agreed to sign MRU's end-of-course evaluation by the course's last day?
- Can the preceptor offer enough hours before that last day, given the course's total?
- What happens if the preceptor withdraws partway through the course?
- How is the fee set, what does it cover, and what happens if MRU does not approve the preceptor?
- Who sees my personal details, and will they be passed to anyone else?

- Honesty about approval and timing. MRU alone approves preceptors and publishes no approval time, so the best service talks about preparation and progress and leaves the approval to MRU.
- An accurate account of its relationship with MRU. MRU publishes no list of partner sites or outside placement services, so anything described as official should be confirmed by MRU itself.
- Clean logs, always. MRU treats falsified logs as grounds for course failure and possible dismissal, so every hour logged must be an hour worked, on the day it was worked.
- The preceptor's name and license shared with you before you commit.
- A written description of what you are paying for.
- A match built on your course rather than a job title: a primary care course needs a primary care preceptor, and pediatrics needs a practice that sees children.
If anyone tells you a preceptor is already approved by MRU, confirm it with MRU before you plan around it. Approval sits with MRU's offices.
Compare it with the option MRU offers
MRU gives you a built-in alternative. If you arrive without a preceptor, the University appoints one and charges the one-time Practicum Affiliation Fee; bringing your own approved preceptor is the only way that fee is waived.

Check the fit, not just a job title
The right preceptor depends on the course, and MRU's courses are specific. PMHNP students need 115 hours with children and adolescents and 150 hours of psychotherapy within their 765. The AGACNP courses run in acute care. The leadership MSN's MSN5855 calls for a nurse with at least a master's degree working in administration and management, and MSN6400 sits in one clinical setting across the lifespan.
Setting type matters too. South Florida health systems that publish a student policy require a school affiliation agreement, and Baptist Health accepts student requests only through Complio. MRU's public documents say students must secure their own preceptor and that MRU must approve that preceptor before the preceptorship starts. They say nothing about how you find the person. What if MRU does not approve the preceptor a service found?
Ask about this before you start, because it can happen. A good answer covers whether the service keeps searching, how soon it can offer another name, and what the fee arrangement is in that case. Get the answer in writing, and keep MRU's reasons for the decision so the next search avoids the same problem.
Can a placement service get me into a hospital that has no agreement with MRU?

Your program, your next clinical course code, the semester and its first day, and the city and county where you live.
