What American Data Bank does for MRU

American Data Bank is the company MRU names for clinical clearance. In the July 2025 Bursar Addendum, a Clinical Clearance line through American Data Bank bundles four services: a background check, a medical document manager, drug screening and clinical document clearances. The fee is listed in MRU's catalog and addendum, and this page does not repeat amounts.

In practice, American Data Bank is where your compliance record lives. Immunization proof, health documents and screening results are collected there so MRU can confirm you are cleared before an externship. The Level II background check with fingerprints appears as its own line in the same fee tables, so treat the bundle and the Level II check as two separate items.

You may hear American Data Bank's student platform called Complio. That is the name the company's product is widely known by, not wording MRU uses. MRU's documents say only American Data Bank, so search your MRU email and course materials for that name when you look for setup instructions.

• Drug screening under MRU's zero-tolerance policy, which allows initial, repeat and random tests (see drug screening at MRU)
• Immunization proof from a healthcare provider licensed in Florida, plus a flu shot every year
• The items MRU Health lists for clinical sites: TB, influenza, hepatitis B, MMR, varicella, Tdap, titers, CPR and a physical
• Current ACLS and BLS certification if you are in the AGACNP certificate

Proof of individual liability insurance runs on its own deadline, at least 15 days before your externship begins. MRU does not publish its full American Data Bank checklist item by item. The catalog points students to the nursing student handbook on the student portal for clinical details, so check there, and in any onboarding email, before you start uploading.

Keeping your record current through the program

Clearance is not a one-time event at MRU. The catalog allows background checks and drug screens at the start of a program and again during enrollment, including random screens, so your record can be reopened at any point.

Some items lapse on their own. The flu shot is required every year for every nursing student, and CPR and BLS cards carry an expiration date. At the start of each term, list every date that falls before your clinical course ends and renew early.

Changes in your life have their own clock. A new criminal charge, even one still pending, and any change in your physical or mental health each trigger a written report to the Office of Academic Affairs, due within 24 hours. That report goes to the office itself; updating a document in American Data Bank does not replace it.
