How the rules change from program to program

MRU does not run one clinical process for every student. Preceptor approval sits with the Office of Academic Affairs in the FNP and AGACNP tracks, while the 2025 catalog gives it to the Program Coordinator for PMHNP, the leadership MSN uses a graduate clinical coordinator, and DNP arrangements go to program faculty.

Tracking differs too. The MSN-FNP, MSN Direct Entry and ASN fee tables name Typhon, the DNP uses myevaluation.com, and the certificate tracks name no system, so their syllabus is the place to check. American Data Bank handles clinical clearance for most tracks, and PMHNP fee tables allow CastleBranch as an alternative. The pre-licensure programs work differently again: their clinicals take place at contracted externship agencies, with scheduling coordinated through the Office of the Registrar.

Questions MRU students ask

Where is MRU's nursing student handbook?

On the student portal, behind the login. The catalog refers students to it for preceptor and clinical details and treats the portal copy as the current version. No public copy was found on mru.edu, so form names, deadlines and preceptor qualifications have to be checked there.

Do the catalog and the addenda ever disagree?

Yes, and the addenda are the update. MRU's Registrar page tells students to check the University Addenda for catalog changes. Recent addenda moved the calendar to 16-week semesters from Fall 2026, introduced 2026 course codes for the pre-licensure programs, replaced the 60-credit DNP with a 39-credit version and added the leadership MSN.

Does MRU use Exxat, ACEMAPP or Complio?

None of those names appears in MRU's documents. MRU names Typhon, myevaluation.com for the DNP, and American Data Bank for clinical clearance, with CastleBranch as an alternative for PMHNP. Some hospitals run their own platforms, such as Baptist Health, which accepts student rotation requests only through Complio.

Which MRU office is the one to know for clinicals?

For most NP students, the Office of Academic Affairs. It approves preceptors for MSN-FNP, the FNP certificate and AGACNP, receives written disclosures of background or health changes within 24 hours, and approves Incompletes that run more than 14 days past the course end.
