MRU's 39-credit DNP asks for 765 practice hours, and the July 2026 DNP addendum says they are tracked in myevaluation.com. The addendum calls them "indirect practice hours": leadership work spread across nearly every course and built around your DNP Project, with a project team mentor assigned by the program director.

What MRU says about myevaluation.com
The source is the DNP Catalog Addendum, Volume X, published in July 2026. It sets the 39-credit degree plan, puts the practice-hour total at 765 and names myevaluation.com as the place those hours are tracked. The July 2025 Bursar addendum lists a Practicum Tracking Software Fee for the DNP without naming the vendor.
The older 60-credit DNP is gone. MRU's program page says that effective Fall 2026 it will no longer be offered. That version required 1,000 practicum hours logged in a portfolio, so a forum post or older catalog quoting 1,000 hours is describing the retired plan.
Two more points of context. The DNP is a leadership degree, and MRU says plainly that it does not prepare graduates for APRN licensure. It is also an ACEN candidate for initial accreditation rather than an accredited program, as the accreditation page explains. The DNP program page covers admission and the rest of the degree.
What "indirect practice hours" means here
The addendum labels the practice hours in each course as indirect practice hours and does not define the term further. Read alongside the program's leadership focus, the working meaning is that these hours go to leadership-focused scholarly work, such as assessing an organization, planning a practice change and carrying out your project, rather than to a patient caseload.
The program page adds that students apply what they learn in their own practice environments. That is as close as MRU comes publicly to saying where the hours happen. It does not say who arranges the practice site, so raise it with the program director or your mentor before committing to an organization.

On the fast track, DNP8200 falls in semester III, DNP7700 in semester IV, and DNP8440 and DNP8500 together in semester V. The regular track takes one course at a time over nine semesters, so the project courses arrive later and one by one.
Your mentor, and who approves the hours
The addendum says the program director assigns each student a DNP Project team mentor at admission. The 2025 catalog adds that practicum hours, projects, preceptors and mentors must be approved by program faculty. MRU also lists the Practicum Credentialing Fee for the DNP, described as the cost of verifying preceptor credentials, and the credentialing page covers what that check involves.
What MRU does not publish is who confirms your entries in myevaluation.com, how often they are reviewed, or what evidence an entry needs. Ask your mentor at your first meeting how they want hours documented, and whether they review them as you go or at the end of each course.
Keep short notes of each mentor meeting and each site activity, with the date, the hours and what was done. If an entry is ever questioned, those notes are what you will lean on.
The practice site and the IRB
Practice hours need somewhere to happen, and the project courses decide when that has to be settled. In DNP8200 you plan the practice change and seek approval from a third-party IRB before the project is implemented. MRU lists an External IRB fee for this in its DNP cost table.
That makes the site an early decision. Choose an organization that will host your project before DNP8200, and confirm it will cooperate with an outside IRB review. DNP8100 also asks for an organizational assessment interview before the practicum, which goes more smoothly with a site already agreed.
Clearance applies to DNP students too. MRU's fee tables list a Level II background check with fingerprints for the DNP, and the Level II page explains what it covers. Admission itself requires an active, unencumbered RN license from Florida or a Compact state.
Prior MSN hours and gaps in the rules
Many DNP applicants ask whether clinical hours from their MSN count toward a doctoral total. MRU's 39-credit documents do not say. They do not mention the 1,000 practicum hours the retired plan required inside the program, and no public MRU source sets out a gap-analysis rule for DNP hours.
The paperwork also conflicts in places. MRU's Program Timeframe Addendum from February 2026 still lists the DNP at 60 credits, while the July 2026 DNP addendum sets 39. The program web page header says 36 credits for the regular track, yet its degree plan totals 39.
Put both questions to the program director in writing before you enroll, and keep the answers. If an employer later asks how many practice hours your doctorate included, you want MRU's own figure on paper rather than an estimate.

Is MRU's DNP a nurse practitioner program?
No. MRU's DNP is a leadership doctorate, and the program page says it does not prepare graduates for APRN licensure. Its practice hours go to leadership-focused scholarly work rather than patient care. MRU's NP pathways are the MSN-FNP and the FNP, PMHNP and AGACNP post-master's certificates, each with its own clinical courses.
Can I complete MRU's DNP while living outside Florida?
The DNP asks for an active, unencumbered RN license from Florida or a Compact (eNLC) state, rather than the SARA residency rule used by MRU's other graduate programs. What do I need to finish MRU's DNP besides the hours?
The addendum lists a DNP project, a clinical practice change, a portfolio, an oral presentation and leadership competencies aligned with AONL. The project runs through DNP8200, DNP7700, DNP8440 and DNP8500, ending with dissemination and final approval. Your mentor and the project course syllabi set the detail for each piece.
Does myevaluation.com cost extra at MRU?
MRU's DNP cost table lists a Practicum Tracking Software Fee, and the DNP addendum names myevaluation.com as the tracking system. The amount is in the catalog's cost tables and the current Bursar addendum. The same DNP table also lists a Practicum Credentialing Fee and an External IRB fee.
Who chooses my DNP practice site?
MRU's public documents do not say in so many words. The program page says students apply what they learn in their own practice environments, and the 2025 catalog says practicum hours, projects, preceptors and mentors need approval from program faculty. Settle the site with your mentor early, since the external IRB step in DNP8200 depends on it.
