MRU nursing accreditation, level by level
Miami Regional University's nursing programs are accredited by ACEN, not CCNE. ACEN's own records show the master's and post-master's certificate programs accredited with no stipulation, and show the baccalaureate program, after an action in August 2025, also accredited without stipulation. The DNP is a candidate for initial accreditation, not yet accredited. The university as a whole is accredited by SACSCOC.

ACEN, not CCNE
Two names come up most in US nursing program accreditation: ACEN, the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and CCNE. MRU uses ACEN for every nursing level, and no MRU document mentions CCNE. When a form, a clinical site or an employer asks for your program's accreditor, the answer is ACEN.
MRU's accreditation page, last updated in January 2026, says ACEN accredits its associate, baccalaureate and master's/post-master's certificate nursing programs, and reports continuing accreditation as the latest action. ACEN keeps its own public record for each MRU program. Where MRU's documents disagree with one another, ACEN's record is the one to rely on.

ACEN's master's record also shows when accreditation began and the last review: first accredited in October 2017, with the last site visit in September 2022. The options it names are the generic MSN with an FNP track and post-master's certificates in AGACNP, FNP and PMHNP.
The BSN wording conflict, resolved
Read MRU's documents side by side and the BSN seems to have two statuses. The 2025 catalog, uploaded in July 2025, describes the baccalaureate program as having "continuing accreditation with conditions." The RN-to-BSN web page, last modified in December 2025, still uses that phrase. MRU's 2026 accreditation page says simply continuing accreditation.
ACEN's own record settles it. It lists the baccalaureate program as Accredited with a stipulation of None, and dates its most recent action August 28, 2025, which is after the catalog was published. The with-conditions wording predates that action, and the RN-to-BSN page appears not to have caught up.
This matters for RN-to-BSN students as well as pre-licensure BSN students, because both earn the same baccalaureate degree. If an employer, a graduate school or a clinical site asks, point them to ACEN's current listing rather than the catalog.
The DNP's candidacy
MRU's DNP is not yet accredited. ACEN made it a candidate for initial accreditation effective September 4, 2024. Candidacy is a step toward accreditation, and a candidate program has not yet completed the full review.
The end date of that candidacy depends on which document you read. The 2025 catalog said September 4, 2026. MRU's June 2026 accreditation addendum and its website say June 30, 2027. ACEN's record lists the initial site visit for February 25, 2027, which fits the later date.
The DNP is also a leadership degree. MRU says it does not prepare graduates for APRN licensure. SACSCOC, Florida and SARA
Institutional accreditation comes from SACSCOC, which accredits MRU up to the doctoral level. Florida's Commission for Independent Education licenses the university under license number 2390, first granted in 2001. MRU also participates in NC-SARA, which is how it enrolls online students from other member states; see the SARA residency rule.
MRU says it is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and lists three program numbers: NPRN 707013, NPRN 705119 and NPRN 705108. Their digits match the NCSBN program codes MRU gives for the ASN, MSN Direct Entry and BSN, in that order, though MRU does not label them that way. To check a program's current standing, look it up with the Florida Board of Nursing rather than relying on MRU's page.
ACEN's master's record, as updated in July 2026, names the FNP track and the three certificates as its options. MRU's own materials also place MSN Direct Entry and the new MSN in Healthcare Systems Leadership, added in 2026, under the master's accreditation. If you are in either program, ask MRU how it appears in ACEN's record.
What accreditation means for clinicals and licensure
Clinical sites and state boards look at accreditation from different angles. Some boards ask for it directly: Delaware asks out-of-state schools using its clinical facilities for proof of state approval or national accreditation, and Utah's annual report for out-of-state programs verifies current accreditation. South Florida health systems that publish a student policy ask first for an affiliation agreement with the school.
It matters again at licensure. Kansas, for example, checks national accreditation when a graduate of an out-of-state program applies for APRN licensure. MRU applies a similar test to its own applicants: the MSN-FNP asks for graduation from a programmatically accredited RN program.
MRU publishes outcome data, including certification pass rates and completion figures, in its Student Achievement Data report on the consumer information page; read it there in full. If you ever have a concern MRU's own process does not resolve, MRU's grievance policy says students may also contact ACEN and SACSCOC.
Questions MRU students ask
Is MRU's nursing program CCNE accredited?
No. Miami Regional University's nursing programs are accredited by ACEN, the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and no MRU document mentions CCNE. When a form or an employer asks for your program's accreditor, give ACEN, and point to ACEN's public record for your program level if proof is needed.
Is MRU's FNP program accredited?
Yes. ACEN's record for MRU's master's and post-master's programs, updated July 31, 2026, shows them accredited with no stipulation. It lists the generic MSN with an FNP track and post-master's certificates in FNP, AGACNP and PMHNP as approved options. The next scheduled ACEN visit is in Fall 2030.
Is MRU's BSN accredited with conditions?
Not according to ACEN's current record, which shows the baccalaureate program accredited with no stipulation after an action dated August 28, 2025. The with-conditions phrase in MRU's 2025 catalog and on the RN-to-BSN page is older wording. Rely on ACEN's listing if you need to show the program's status.
Is MRU's DNP accredited?
Not yet. ACEN granted it candidacy for initial accreditation on September 4, 2024, which is a step short of accreditation. MRU now gives June 30, 2027 as the end of candidacy, and ACEN lists the initial site visit for February 2027. Until ACEN grants accreditation, describe it as a candidate program rather than an accredited one.
Is Miami Regional University regionally accredited?
Yes, at the institutional level. MRU is accredited by SACSCOC up to the doctoral level, and it is licensed in Florida by the Commission for Independent Education. That institutional status is separate from the ACEN programmatic accreditation that covers its nursing programs, and employers may ask about either.
