MRU's 2026 course codes: old and new, side by side
MRU's 2026 prelicensure addendum gives every ASN, BSN, RN-to-BSN and MSN Direct Entry course a new code, while the 2025 catalog still prints the old ones. MRU publishes no old-to-new mapping, so the tables below pair the clinical courses by title. The graduate NP programs are outside the addendum.

What was renumbered, and where it is written
The change comes from the addendum MRU lists as "Prelicensure Curriculum with 2026 Course Codes". It renumbers every course in four programs: the ASN, the pre-licensure BSN, the RN-to-BSN and MSN Direct Entry. MRU's program web pages now use the new codes, but the Volume X 2025 catalog, which is still the catalog linked from the Registrar's page, prints the old ones.
The Registrar tells students to check the University Addenda for catalog updates, so when the two disagree, the addendum is the newer word. What MRU does not publish is a table saying which old code became which new one. We matched them by title, and for the ASN also by semester position. Treat every pairing below as matched by title, not as an MRU mapping.
The graduate nurse practitioner courses (MSN5700, MSN5056C, MSN5040C and the rest) are not in the addendum; their codes are the ones in the 2025 catalog.
ASN clinical courses
The ASN's seven clinical courses add up to 450 clinical hours under the 2026 plan. Old codes used letter suffixes (NUR2320A, NUR2320B) that the new scheme drops. More on how these externships are scheduled is on the ASN clinicals page.
ASN clinicals take place at contracted externship agencies, and the Office of the Registrar coordinates externship sections with program representatives. If an agency changes its sites, MRU may adjust your schedule without notice, and you are expected to accept the final published schedule. That schedule shows the 2026 codes, not the catalog's.

BSN clinical courses and the NUR4420 trap
The pre-licensure BSN has eleven clinical courses and 675 clinical hours in the 2026 plan. One code now means something different from what it meant in the catalog, and it is the one to watch on any clinical form or log. The BSN clinicals page covers the courses themselves.

NUR4420 is two different courses. In the 2025 catalog it is Leadership and Quality Improvement; under the 2026 codes it is Care of Women and Newborn, and leadership has moved to NUR4830.
RN-to-BSN clinical courses
The RN-to-BSN's 135 clinical hours sit in three 45-hour courses, each done "in a preceptorship model" under indirect supervision. The 2026 course descriptions mark all three as online. MRU's public documents do not say who arranges the RN-to-BSN preceptor or site; the RN-to-BSN page covers what is known.
Prerequisites moved to the new scheme too: NUR4269 and NUR4679 list the RN license plus NUR3041, NUR3061, NUR3183 and NUR3816, while NUR4689 requires NUR3871, NUR4111, NUR4269 and NUR4679.

Notice that each old code here also appears in the BSN table. The catalog used one code for both versions of these courses; the 2026 scheme separates them.
MSN Direct Entry clinical courses
MSN Direct Entry changed prefix as well as number. Its old codes began with MSN, the same prefix as the graduate NP courses, so an old MSN-DE code such as MSN5430A (Obstetrics) could be mistaken for a graduate NP course. The 2026 codes use NGR instead. The program's seven clinical courses total 495 clinical hours; see MSN Direct Entry.
MSN-DE's fee table names Typhon as its Clinical Evaluation Portfolio System, so check that the course names in your Typhon account match your 2026 schedule before you start logging.

When a code on a form, a log or an email does not match your schedule, add the course title and ask your instructor which is right before you submit anything.
Questions MRU students ask
Which course code should I use in Typhon or on clinical paperwork?
MRU does not publish guidance on this. The safest habit is to use the code on your current schedule in the portal and add the course title, so a site coordinator or preceptor holding an older document can match it. If a form or Typhon entry shows an old code, ask your instructor whether to correct it.
Did MRU's FNP course codes change in 2026?
Not in the 2026 prelicensure addendum, which covers only the ASN, BSN, RN-to-BSN and MSN Direct Entry. The FNP clinical courses (MSN5700, MSN6050, MSN6150 and MSN6400) use the codes printed in the 2025 catalog. Check the University Addenda page each term in case a later addendum changes them.
Why do some BSN and RN-to-BSN codes differ by one?
Three pairs of courses shared old codes: NUR3400, NUR4300 and NUR4200 covered both versions. The 2026 scheme splits them, with the directly supervised BSN versions ending in an even number (NUR4268, NUR4678, NUR4688) and the RN-to-BSN versions, run under indirect supervision in a preceptorship model, one higher (NUR4269, NUR4679, NUR4689).
Does the renumbering change clinical hours?
MRU does not say. The 2026 addendum gives 450 clinical hours for the ASN, 675 for the BSN, 135 for the RN-to-BSN and 495 for MSN Direct Entry. The 2025 catalog's degree plans print combined clock hours rather than clinical hours, so the two documents cannot be compared line by line.
