Georgia nurses in Miami Regional University's online programs
MRU's FNP, PMHNP and AGACNP programs, RN-to-BSN and leadership MSN all accept students who live in Georgia, a SARA member state. Georgia's Board does not regulate graduate programs, so MRU needs no Board approval to place you; the rules that matter are about licenses, yours and your preceptor's.

What MRU lets you take from Georgia
Georgia is in MRU's NC-SARA licensure disclosure, with FNP, AGACNP and PMHNP all marked "Meets". The catalog adds that MRU's own licensure commitment covers Florida alone, and that students elsewhere should check with their own board first. For you that is the Georgia Board of Nursing, which sits under the Georgia Secretary of State's office.

No Board approval, but a license rule for everyone involved
Post-licensure programs, including APRN programs, sit outside the Georgia Board of Nursing's approval and regulation. So Board approval is not needed before a program from another state sends its MSN, NP or RN-to-BSN students to Georgia clinicals. Pre-licensure works the other way: according to the Board, no online or out-of-state pre-licensure program currently holds approval for clinicals in the state.
Licensure conditions do the work instead. If you live in Georgia, attend an out-of-state program and do your clinical hours in Georgia, you need either a Georgia license or a multistate one from some other Compact state. Faculty and preceptors who teach or work in Georgia, in person or electronically, face the same license rule.
In APRN programs, the Board says the nurse who conducts clinical instruction must hold APRN authorization in Georgia. Check that before you approach anyone.
Restricted practice and the Georgia preceptor pool
AANP classes Georgia as restricted practice: NP prescribing of Schedule II drugs is limited, and NPs practice under a physician's delegation or supervision. Combined with the Board's statement on clinical instruction, your search centers on Georgia-authorized APRNs, each working under a physician's delegation. Grady Health System, Emory Healthcare, Northside Hospital, Wellstar Health System and Piedmont Healthcare are all in Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, a metro of about 6.48 million people in 2025. Beyond Atlanta, Savannah has about 438,000 people, the Georgia side of the Augusta metro about 430,000 and the Georgia side of Columbus about 266,000. Consider them landmarks for your search, not MRU affiliates.
Licensing for Georgia clinicals
Georgia's participation in the Nurse Licensure Compact took effect on 19 January 2018. A Georgia multistate license meets the Board's student rule and the DNP's Florida-or-Compact admission condition. The rest is MRU's sequence: clearance through American Data Bank, a Level II fingerprint check, individual liability cover shown at least 15 days ahead of the externship, and preceptor approval before any hours.
If you live in south Georgia, a site in Jacksonville or Tallahassee may be closer than Atlanta, but a Florida site brings Florida's rules with it. The general rules are in MRU clinicals outside Florida.

Questions MRU students ask
Will my Georgia preceptor get the PTIP tax credit for teaching me?
No. Under Georgia's Preceptor Tax Incentive Program, Georgia-licensed APRNs, PAs, physicians and dentists who precept unpaid in community settings earn state tax credits; HB 144 extended and revised the program, with registration due annually from 2026. Only students in Georgia NP, PA, medical or dental programs count, so an MRU rotation does not qualify.
Can I do MRU clinicals in Florida while living in south Georgia?
Possibly, but Florida's rules then apply. Rule 64B9-4.001(13) requires a Florida-licensed preceptor at a Florida site, and it describes the student as an RN licensed under Florida's chapter 464; whether a Georgia multistate license meets that wording is not spelled out. Ask MRU before you plan, and see the Florida guide.
Can a physician precept my MRU NP course in Georgia?
According to the Georgia Board, only a nurse holding Georgia APRN authorization may conduct clinical instruction in a post-licensure APRN program. That points your search toward Georgia APRNs rather than physicians. If a physician offers to help, ask MRU how it applies the Board's statement before you log any hours with them.
Could I do MRU's BSN clinicals in Georgia?
No. MRU's BSN, ASN and MSN Direct Entry are on-campus programs in Miami Springs, with clinicals MRU schedules at contracted agencies, and Georgia's Board has said that, at present, none of the online or out-of-state pre-licensure programs has approval for clinicals there. MRU's RN-to-BSN is different: it is post-licensure, so it needs no Georgia Board approval.
